In many respects, childbirth is a drastic event in a woman’s life. Physically and emotionally, it turns life upside down and brings about profound changes.

But despite short nights and fatigue, the new daily routine, possible baby blues and the aftermath of childbirth, you must continue to think of yourself.

Even though time has become a rare commodity between potty training, baby care and the countless everyday tasks, you should allow yourself some time out now and then. This will help you recharge your batteries and give you the serenity you need to master the challenges and maintain a “Zen attitude “. Well-being and a good physical and mental condition are the keys to a good balance.

Even if you have not yet regained your former figure, now is not a good time to start a diet, especially if you are breastfeeding. It will take several months to get your starting weight back. Seek advice from your gynecologist and add vitamin-rich foods to your diet, if you haven’t already. Fruits and vegetables are more important now than ever to get your old figure back. Instead of starving yourself, lose weight gradually, through a balanced diet and 15-30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise every day. But be careful: after giving birth, it is recommended to wait for 2 to 3 weeks before you start exercising again. Brisk walking is a good way to stay in shape and do something for your figure. A walk in the fresh air clears your head, recharges your batteries and gives you new strength!

Many women suffer from depressive moods after giving birth. This so-called “baby blues” is accompanied by feelings of anxiety, despondency, mood swings and sometimes also sleep disturbances. If this is only of short duration, no special treatment is required apart from rest and support from the environment. You can do something about it by allowing yourself small wellness breaks.

You should also pay attention to stress in connection with the changes in your life. Strengthen your immune system to arm yourself against stress. Plan “pamper days ” in a spa, treat yourself to massages and relaxation, do yoga exercises or sign up for body and facial care at the beautician. Also, pay attention to the needs of your skin, it is often dry after pregnancy.

Give yourself a treat by buying something nice to wear and wrap yourself in soft and cozy clothes to relax. There are teas based on herbs and medicinal plants specially designed for women after childbirth. They are a valuable source of natural harmony that you should not do without.

And one last tip: keep in touch with your girlfriends. In the future, you’ll just have to plan a little more space for the stroller when you go out for coffee, so that you can enjoy the intimate moments among friends even with a child. Nothing is better for the soul than a chat with good friends. Share your everyday worries or your experiences as a young or expectant mother!
