A swimming pool at home can be very dangerous for children, especially children under the age of five.
Never leave children unattended in the pool, even for a short moment.
Do not let young children near the swimming pool unsupervised.
Install a barrier to separate the swimming pool from the house. Install the barrier on all four sides of the swimming pool and completely separate it from the play area. Use doors with the lock placed high enough that your child cannot reach them.
To protect young children, a pool alarm system that meets the latest safety requirements is also a good solution. For above-ground pools, remove the ladder or steps.
If a child is suddenly missing, always check the pool first. In case of drowning, every second counts!
Keep a telephone and first aid kit near the pool.
Never let children learn to swim unsupervised with floaties or inflatable toys.
Do not leave toys in the pool; they provide an added incentive for your children. When swimming or bathing time is over, reinstall safety devices so that children cannot return to the pool.
Avoid a floor around the pool that is too slippery, this could encourage falling in.
